Chishakwe runs an established Community Outreach Project. We aim to
strengthen the local micro economy by offering job opportunities, encourage
cultural tourism endeavours and develop craft marketing opportunities.
The villages, set in beautiful, unspoilt woodland, are attractive examples
of traditional Zimbabwean rural villages. The absence of wild animals
in the immediate area means it can safely be visited by biycle, horseback
or on foot. The villagers welcome visitors for an overnight excursion
or a meal.
The education outreach project which we have been running for the last
five years is now expanding to include more age groups and the building
of an eco center in the village areas. Through this project we work
hand in hand with local schools in order to create educational opportunities
and foster a culture of conservation in the area.
“
Now, more than ever, the future of large scale conservation lies in
ensuring that local populations not only understand the magnitude of,
but invest into, the long term objective of preserving habitat and
animals for posterity”.
Chishakwe provides up to twelve children who could not otherwise attend
school with full scholarships. Some of our previous guests contribute
scholarship funds in a similar manner. For more information please
