Zimbabwe:
what you need to know:
While, in recent years, Zimbabwe has remained at the center of a controversial
political storm; it remains a safe destination for visitors.
Although the
tourism industry has been hard hit by the withdrawal of mainstream tourists
(Zimbabwe was for some time Africa’s premier tourist destination);
a large number of facilities at a variety of stunning destinations continue
to operate. The standards throughout the industry remain extremely high.
Those who do visit the country have the advantage of enjoying a top rate
holiday at extremely reasonable rates.
Zimbabwe has a summer rainfall pattern so the months from November/December
through to approximately April tend to be the warmer, wetter months. The
winter climate is cooler and drier but, nevertheless, temperate with days
tending to be warm and early evenings and mornings quite cold.
Malaria occurs in many areas of the country (including the South East Lowveld
where Chishakwe is situated). Accommodation at Chishakwe is fully gauzed
and nets are provided over the beds. We recommend that visitors bring repellants
with them and that they seek the advice of a qualified medical doctor before
departure with regards to the use of prophylactics. Summer months present
a higher malaria risk while winter months are low risk.
Chishakwe is accessible by road or by air. Please contact
us for co-ordinates
or a detailed map and directions.
