Travel in Zimbabwe
After nigh on a decade of disruption the Zimbabwean tourism industry
is ready for a come-back!
Zimbabwe is a beautiful and varied country which has much to offer
tourists – especially those who are fans of wildlife and the
outdoors.
Although the tourism industry has been hard hit by the withdrawal
of mainstream tourists (Zimbabwe was for some time Africa’s premier
tourist destination); a large number of facilities at a variety of
stunning destinations continue to operate. The standards throughout
the industry are high and the physical safety of visitors is arguably
more assured in Zimbabwe than in almost any other country in Africa.
Added to which, those who do visit the World
of Wonders have the advantage
of enjoying a top rate holiday at very reasonable rates.
Climate
Zimbabwe has a summer rainfall pattern so the months from November/December
through to approximately April tend to be the warmer, wetter months.
The winter climate is cooler and drier but, nevertheless, temperate
with days tending to be warm and early evenings and mornings quite
cold.
Health
Visitors are advised to ensure that they have medical insurance when
visiting Zimbabwe as they are likely to want to attend a private hospital
or health care facility should it be required while they are here.
Malaria occurs in many areas of the country (including theSouth
East Lowveld where Chishakwe is situated). Accommodation at Chishakwe is
fully gauzed and nets are provided over the beds. We recommend that
visitors bring repellants with them and that they seek the advice of
a qualified medical doctor before departure with regards to the use
of prophylactics. Summer months present a higher malaria risk while
winter months are low risk.
